With two of us in the field, Tim and I took turns attacking throughout the race with the hopes of either getting away or loosening the field for the sprint. The race was held on a 1.5 mile loop in an industrial park with a slight elevation change each lap, providing just enough hill to launch off the front.
After a couple solid breakaway efforts that didn’t pan out, we settled in with a few laps to go. Tim came into the final stretch a little further back than ideal, but was able to make up the difference and definitively grab the team’s first win of the season.
You can see more photos from the race here.
Tim and I both jumped into the Men’s 3/4 where we hoped to hang on after putting out a fair amount of work in the previous race.
Tim is coming off a strong 2015 where he picked up wins at Watkin’s Glen, Buffalo Race Weekend, and Rochester Twilight. For this season he is looking to race a couple early road races as a Cat 4 before hoping to upgrade to Cat 3 for the majority of the year where he will join a strong cast of Cat 1-3 Once Again riders featuring Jason Hettenbaugh, Jake Castor, Ian Cramer, and Garrett Lucas.
